Reasonably priced for a London hotel. Friendly staff, good connections via tube and bus. Everything you need for a short stay.
I'm just about to check out after a one night stay for a short trip to London and I must say I'm pleasantly surprised by the Stratford Hotel. The room was lovely and clean with fresh linen. The bed was a nice size for me. I was in a single room as it was just me and I had plenty of room for my luggage and essentials. The pillow was a little hard for my taste but it may suit others. The mattress was clean and comfortable allowing me to have a pretty decent night's sleep. The bathroom is a little small but the hotel makes good use of the space. The shower was probably the best shower I've seen in a budget hotel in London. I'm 6"5' and even though the cubicle was a little small I still had plenty of room to do what I needed to do. The placement of the shower head is fantastic! Great height for us tall folk which is something you don't often find even in the more high end hotels I've been too. Everything was nice and clean although there was a little patch of black mould in the sealant which one would expect given it's a shower. Temperature and pressure was fantastic though the controls are a little strange. One knob was for hot water one for cold instead of the usual one for temp one for pressure but that's me not looking before I turned the shower on. The gentleman who greeted me was incredibly polite and really helpful. The lobby is a little plain but you won't be spending much time there anyway. Location is terrific! Ten minutes by bus to Stratford City bus station but also very easy to walk if you wanna save some cash. Easy to find so none of this Google maps-ing and getting lost. Only thing to improve would be a hairdryer in the rooms and maybe a bedside lamp or something to save you stumbling around in the middle of the night. All together a fantastic experience for a brilliant budget option if you're heading to London 8/10 Would definitely stay here again.
Nice accomodation if you don't expect too much. Fridge and ventilator, complimentary tea, coffee and small snacks. Windows don't close well and you hear other guests through the walls. Only about 15 min from Stratford Station, Bus stop only 2 min away.
Fabulous location right next to transportation. Huge new and modern Westfield mall a few min walk away. A bit far off from central London if that’s where you plan to spend your time however. Rooms were clean and spacious with a huge soaker bathtub. Breakfast was lovely with great service. The hotel even stored our bags for a couple of days while we went to Paris, which was really appreciated not having to lug it around! Where things went downhill for us was at the restaurant (not lounge) for dinner. Our server didn’t seem to have much of an idea of what to do as we had to ask him for service a couple of times and he forgot to order our desserts. The meals were okay but overpriced for what it was. After watching our server hang around doing nothing for over 10-15 minutes while the kitchen staff equally had no orders happening, you could see when he realized he forgot the dessert order. No big deal as it happens but he didn’t admit to the error and just told us the food was coming up shortly, clearly forgetting we could see everything as it was an open dining and kitchen space. When time for the bill came, there was an arbitrary 12.5% gratuity already on the bill with no signs or notes anywhere indicating tips would be automatically charged regardless. Our party size was only 3 people so not a large group where it is generally understandable to have gratuities automatically put in for groups over 6-8. Then there was another area to enter a tip. We asked our server, who was standing over my husband, watching over what we noted on the bill, what this was about since the tip was already on there and he said the auto tip was for all of us and the extra was for my husband to enter for his own portion ??? We would definitely stay at the hotel again but would not go back to the restaurant for the poor service, lack of transparency and unjustified entitlement of serving staff.
Great place to stay, so close to a train station to go into London. Staff were lovely, a very affordable hotel and made our trip to London easy. Would definitely recommend staying here if you're on a budget.
